Academic Results: UNIMOB aims to contribute to the academic debate on the role and potential of higher education, as well as other social agents, in reducing the emotional and social costs associated with social mobility trajectories. The project fosters knowledge transfer in the community sphere.
UNIMOB also contributes to another significant sociological debate: the one exploring how individual mobility influences the collective social mobility of a social group, in this case, the Roma people. Through this project, empirical evidence is provided on the dilemmas and difficulties faced by individuals and their families when accessing the social elevator, as well as the varied strategies they undertake while navigating complex social environments and meanings.
Social Impact : The results are developed with the active participation of Roma individuals from the two studied territories, Catalonia and Andalusia, and continuous consultation with civil society agents. The team encourages knowledge transfer in the community, maintaining close contact with civil society, policymakers, university professors, labour market agents, and other entities and structures that support or could support individuals undergoing upward social mobility.
