Methodology
UNIMOB investigates social mobility using a qualitative methodology.
UNIMOB gathers empirical data through narrative interviews with visual elicitation in two territories: Catalonia and Andalusia. The researchers conducting the interviews share several life experiences and conditions with the participants, facilitating deeper connection and understanding. Additionally, the participation of social and educational intervention professionals familiar with the researched reality is encouraged. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups will be conducted with these professionals at different stages of the process, using diverse tools. The project involves over 100 informants in total.

UNIMOB studies how individuals move between different social classes, considering the intersection of various factors that condition this mobility, such as gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, territory, and religious practices.
We understand that the effects of these factors are neither cumulative nor static; instead, the relationships between them create dynamic conditions. However, these conditions can result in structural, institutional, and community patterns that influence the trajectories of the individuals interviewed.

Data Analysis
Narrative stories and focus groups are analysed through internal discussions within the research team, which are then expanded with the Advisory Board members (composed of Roma and non-Roma individuals). To carry out the pre-discussion coding, we use the Atlas.ti 25 qualitative text analysis software, which includes AI-based tools.
